Happy Living environments encourage meaningful community engagement. Building housing intentionally committed to social interaction while still giving residents ample personal space is just plain smart.

What the future brings is an estimated 1.2 billion additional souls on earth by 2030. 70% of the population will be living in cities, sharing many goods, services, and amenities.

Housing developments designed for most low or middle income brackets the idea of tenant well-being or belonging is an afterthought at best, and often not considered at all. Our designs start with those little things that culminate into an environment to naturally bring people together.

What is co-living? It is a lifestyle that collectively shares resources, goods, services etc. It is expected to be more common by 2030. Interestingly, this is what people want now and about a third of us are already living this way.

LIifestyle studies... 7000 people from 147 countries surveyed. People don’t want to share bathrooms or bedrooms but willing to share amenities like kitchens, workspaces, gardens, and internet access. Respondents were most interested in living with between 4 & 10 people. As opposed to most “co-living” high-rise urban environments numbering in the 100's  per building

COMMON HALLWAYS

By designing our buildings for 10 units per floor a with open space between units it allows for more privacy. Hallways 8’6”w by 9’6”h are specifically designed in for a luxurious feel. Wide common-area hallways make each flat feel separate, unique and provides a more leisurely entry and exit. This invites social interaction with neighbors rather than inhibiting it if everyone is squeezed traveling down a narrow hallway.

FOR SMALL GATHERINGS
& SENSE OF BELONGING

Each floor is designed for a small group of residents. Using an eye toward fostering community growth a unique and wise use of space facilitates small group interactions. Smaller groups work well together to form a community campared to large groups. Wider hallway designs provide a sense of belonging plus ease of travel, our common areas are centers for community building and socializing.

COMMON AREAS

& COMMUNITY ROOM

In addition to a common lobby on the first floor and a community room in the basement, there are two gathering spaces on the 2nd and 3rd floors. One end has a large bay window to seat 2 or 3 people & at the other end, an alcove able to seat the entire floor. The large alcove, much like a coffee shop, is meant for group gathering spot where residents come together to share time to get to know each other. A common area that's designed with large windows, high ceilings and open feeling, it will draw tenants together where socializing is done with ease.

OWNERSHIP & FREEDOM

Our flats are laid out to give both a sense of ownership as well as freedom. We choose studios so that one retains the ability to decide just how the space will be customized to their needs and preferences.

THEIR OWN CONVERTIBLE SPACE

When people have ownership they want to be responsible and participate in the overall well-being of their home and community. Our studio design fosters a sense of ownership by not restricting the placement of a resident’s furniture, which gives them the option to change things up as they feel the need.
